How to File a Trasol Lawsuit

Trasylol is a popular over-the-counter anti-acne medication, also known as Tricominophen, that is commonly used by millions of women and men each year. In recent years, however, many have questioned whether Trasylol is actually safe for long term use, particularly for those suffering from heart disease or high blood pressure. Additionally, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has received numerous reports of potential drug interactions with Trasylol, particularly for those taking cardiovascular medications such as warfarin, nitrate-based medicines, and antiplatelet therapy. While Trasol is approved by the FDA, these reports and drug interactions can often be overlooked by physicians.

Trasol Lawsuit

According to a recently filed lawsuit in New England, the manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline, is liable for failing to warn its consumers that Trasylol can cause potentially fatal renal toxicity if they take the drug while pregnant. This drug contains no labeling regarding its potential effect on kidney function and only lists a “fatal side effect” as the reason for discontinuation. In addition, despite stating that there are no other risk factors for users of Trasol, the manufacturer still warns that users should not take the drug while pregnant or breastfeed. As a result, many women and thousands of babies have been harmed by this drug while using it to treat their acne.

Although the Trasylol lawsuit does not specify which specific drugs were improperly marketed, it does point out a pattern of potential danger.

In the case of trasylol, the manufacturer did not inform consumers that its use can result in adverse drug interactions with certain medications such as warfarin, nitrate-based medicines, and antiplatelet therapy. This is important, because these are medications that women generally receive treatments for during their pregnancy. In addition, numerous women have sustained birth defects on account of these drug interactions.

It is very troubling that the manufacturers knew about these dangers, yet sold the drug in the form of a cream. However, Trasol was not the only dangerous drug available. According to the FDA, it is not the only one that contains ethylene oxide. Other ethylene oxide-based drugs have also been sold to consumers. The FDA has been attempting to get these companies to remove this ingredient from these products, but so far, it has been unsuccessful. As a result of these unfortunate circumstances, there has been an increased need for other types of compensation for those who have been injured through injuries brought about by defective drugs.

Trasol is not the only case that has resulted in a class action lawsuit against a manufacturer.

A different class action lawsuit was filed against GlaxoSmithKline, the company that manufactured the drug Armaresic. In this case, the plaintiff received a settlement worth $1 million. The reason for this large settlement is due to the fact that this drug caused harm to the plaintiff’s loved ones. The effects of this drug include, depression, anxiety, memory loss, short term memory loss, tremors, nausea and vomiting.

According to the attorney that handled this lawsuit, there was evidence that indicated that GlaxoSmithKline was aware of the potential side effects, yet chose to push on with the sale of this product.

The attorney further stated that this company did not warn anyone of the dangerous side effects that could be experienced by those that suffer from this condition. Even though the FDA has stated that Trasol has been proven safe for use, the jury found that this company acted in a negligent manner when they sold a product that was dangerous. This, the lawsuit argues, was not a step towards providing quality healthcare for its users, but rather was an attempt to make money off of those that suffered from this condition.

The class action lawsuit filed against GlaxoSmithKline is just one example of the type of lawsuits that are being filed today.

There have been many other cases of drugs being found to have caused harm or death, such as the Atkins Diet Drug Lawsuit that was filed in the mid 1990’s. A class action lawsuit is where a group of people file a lawsuit together, instead of on their own. The courts tend to award larger settlements when more than one person is filing a lawsuit. A class action lawsuit is much like a class action lawsuit, with a set of plaintiffs filing lawsuits pertaining to a series of similar problems.
